Sydney, February 20 (Xinhua) -- According to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on the 20th, another poultry farm in the northern part of the state of Victoria (Victoria) in Australia has confirmed an outbreak of avian influenza. This situation has once again attracted high attention from all walks of life, as the time interval between the detection of H7N8 avian influenza strain in two other farms in northern Victoria last week is extremely short.
The news released by the Victorian Department of Agriculture clearly confirms that the virus detected in the newly added outbreak farm is the H7N8 strain that had previously appeared on two nearby infected farms. Cameron Bell, the acting chief veterinary officer of Victoria, said in an interview that the emergence of new cases is actually reasonable due to the close geographical location of these farms.
In order to effectively prevent and control the further spread of the epidemic, the authorities have quickly taken a series of strict and comprehensive biosecurity measures against infected farms. Two farms that announced infections last week have already culled hundreds of thousands of chickens to prevent the spread of the virus from the source. At the same time, relevant departments have established a quarantine zone with a radius of 5 kilometers centered around the affected area, strictly controlling the area and increasing monitoring efforts to closely monitor the dynamics of the epidemic.
