On the noon of March 25th local time, a forest fire broke out in Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan. The firefighting operation is currently ongoing. As of press time, there have been no reports of casualties or house fires. ​
Affected by the spread of wildfires, the Miyazaki City Government quickly responded in the afternoon and issued evacuation instructions to 70 households in some areas, fully ensuring the safety of residents' lives. At the same time, the Miyazaki Prefectural Government has requested reinforcements from the Japanese Self Defense Forces, aiming to enhance firefighting efforts and quickly control the fire with the help of the Self Defense Forces. ​
It is worth noting that there have been frequent wildfires in many parts of Japan recently. On March 23rd local time, forest fires also broke out in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture and Minami ku, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. In Imabari City and Nishijo City of Ehime Prefecture, the burnt area reached 214 hectares, which is the largest forest fire burnt area in Ehime Prefecture since 1989. The two cities have issued evacuation instructions to over 1300 households. The burnt area in Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture was about 300 hectares, with 6 vacant residential buildings and warehouses burned down. 11 helicopters and 55 fire trucks were deployed to extinguish the fire. In addition, on February 19, 2025, a forest fire broke out in Sanlu cho, Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture, Japan, resulting in one death, more than 80 houses burned down, and an area of nearly 2600 hectares burned. It became the most serious forest fire disaster in the country in 50 years, and 4596 people were required to evacuate. ​
