Rome, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Recently, the United Nations World Food Programme released the "Global School Feeding Status 2020" report. The report reveals that there are currently 370 million children who cannot access school meals, which poses a threat to the healthy growth of millions of children.
Research has shown that school meals have significant implications for children from impoverished families. Nutritious meals not only help them resist hunger, but also ensure their long-term health. David Bisley, Executive Director of the World Food Programme, stressed: "For those children who are suffering from hunger, school meals are often the key factor to encourage them to go to school. We must make these feeding projects work again effectively." To this end, the World Food Programme in its report called on countries around the world to take active action, formulate relevant policies, and spare no effort to eliminate the many negative effects of the COVID-19 epidemic on children in need.
