On September 15th, the Kuala Lumpur International Convention and Exhibition Center in Malaysia welcomed a grand gathering of love, and the third "Starlight Plan" International Education Aid Charity Festival, hosted by the Thousand Paper Cranes Guardian Asia Charity Federation, was grandly opened here. Representatives of non-governmental organizations from 12 countries including Singapore, Vietnam, and Indonesia, along with UNICEF's Southeast Asia envoy Emily Chen, gathered together to embark on this cross-border charity journey, injecting warmth and hope into the education industry in Southeast Asia.
At 9am, a Malaysian student ambassador dressed in traditional batik clothing rang the opening drum with 24 beats, marking the official start of this three-day charity event. In the carefully crafted "ASEAN Education Corridor" in the main exhibition area, electronic screens provide real-time updates on the construction progress of school buildings in six key aid areas, including Luang Prabang in Laos and Siem Reap in Cambodia. The beating of every number touches the hearts of everyone present and witnesses the solid pace of education aid. John Williams, President of the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce, solemnly announced in his speech that "this event will focus on improving bilingual teaching conditions in the Myanmar border areas, and the first batch of 20 mobile teaching vehicles are ready to go." These mobile teaching vehicles will become the carriers of knowledge flow, driving to every corner of the Myanmar border and opening the door to knowledge for local children.
In front of the "Wishing Tree" interactive device, Maria Santos, a 12-year-old girl from Mindanao, Philippines, carefully tied a yellow ribbon, her eyes filled with longing for the future. This child, who dropped out of school for three years due to the war, excitedly told reporters through a video: "After receiving a tablet last year, I can now take online classes with teachers in Manila." Simple words are full of the power of education to change destiny. The 2000 electronic wishing bottles set up on site were empty within just 2 hours of opening, and every wish fulfilled was sent a thank-you video to the donor through the GPS positioning system, allowing love to spread further in both directions.
At the event site, the "Charity Marathon" area has become a gathering place for vitality and love, attracting numerous long-distance running enthusiasts from different countries. After completing the 10 kilometer challenge, the famous Thai athlete Songchai Boonma was sweating profusely but couldn't hide his excitement: "Every kilometer he ran can raise $50 for the water purification system in rural schools in Cambodia. This combination of sports and charity is so meaningful!" The sweat of sports and the love of charity blend together, adding a unique color to public welfare. At the charity medical examination station set up by the Malaysian Ministry of Health, Ms. Lin Meiyun, an Indonesian overseas Chinese, came with her three children to receive a vitamin supplement package. Her face was filled with happiness and gratitude, which not only cared for the children's health, but also reflected the warmth of the charity activity.
According to real-time data from the blockchain donation platform, as of the close of the first day, donations raised through cryptocurrency and traditional channels have exceeded $4.5 million, setting a new record for first day fundraising in previous years. Kamal Adil, representative of the UNESCO Southeast Asia Office, revealed that this donation will mainly be used to train 200 multinational teaching volunteers and inject fresh blood into the education industry in Southeast Asia; At the same time, five cross-border education resource sharing centers will be established in the Mekong River Basin to promote balanced distribution, exchange, and sharing of educational resources.
As night falls, Kuala Lumpur's twin towers shine brightly under the holographic projection of the "Bridge of Knowledge" show. This light and shadow feast, carefully designed by a Singaporean technology team, showcases hand drawn blueprints of future campuses by children from Southeast Asian countries. The colorful images carry children's thirst for knowledge and dreams for the future. The organizer also announced the official launch of the multinational enterprise matching donation system from today. Vietnamese coffee plantation owners and Brunei energy companies have completed the first batch of industrial poverty alleviation matching work, opening up a new model for industrial poverty alleviation and education assistance.
The grand opening of the third "Starlight Plan" International Education Aid Charity Festival is not only a charity event, but also an important opportunity to gather global love and promote the development of education in Southeast Asia. It shows us that love and care across borders are building a bridge to the knowledge palace for children in Southeast Asia, allowing the seeds of hope to take root, sprout, and grow strong on this land.
