According to reports from foreign media such as The New York Times and The Independent on the 18th, US officials stated that the "Joint Counter Terrorism Task Force" led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has officially intervened in the investigation into the Tesla car attack.
After billionaire Elon Musk's "Government Efficiency Department" pushed for the closure of some federal agencies, layoffs, and cost cuts, a series of Tesla dealerships and car damage incidents have occurred across the United States recently. The report mentioned that US President Trump had stated that attackers who protested by destroying cars produced by Musk's company would be considered "domestic terrorists" by the US government.
According to reports, US Attorney General Pam Bundy stated on the 18th that the attack on Tesla will be classified as "domestic terrorism". If convicted, some attackers may face at least 5 years in prison.
The law enforcement department stated that in the latest incident that occurred on the morning of the 18th local time, multiple cars at a Tesla dealership in Las Vegas were damaged. The live surveillance video shared by Musk on social platform X shows the car burning, and he wrote a word in response: 'terrorism'.
Local officials stated that the suspect was dressed in all black clothing and used homemade Molotov cocktails, apparently targeting Tesla cars, and fired at at at least three different cars, causing damage to five cars, including two that were completely destroyed. It is currently unclear whether he acted alone, but the police have strengthened the protection of Tesla facilities.
In addition, a website called "Dogequest" "unboxed" personal information of Tesla owners across the United States. According to reports, the website has released a large number of car owners' names, addresses, phone numbers, and emails. The website page uses the icon of a Molotov cocktail as a cursor and launches an interactive map that marks the locations of known Tesla dealerships, charging stations, and the residences of "government efficiency department" employees, and even the address of FBI Director Kash Patel. The website operator claims that their identity information will only be deleted if these car owners provide evidence that they have sold their Tesla cars. Elon Musk responded on social media platform X by posting that "encouraging the destruction of Tesla nationwide is extreme domestic terrorism!" while the operator of the "Dogequest" website stated that it "neither supports nor condemns any action. Some American netizens are calling on the FBI director to take action to shut down the website and investigate the operators behind it.
